It’s hard to keep excitement contained with all the projected and announced new Chromebooks that are set to launch this year, and some are eagerly awaiting the pricing details and release of Acer’s newly announced Chromebook to come, which was unveiled by Acer at their recent “A Touch Connected” event. The good news is that the pricing details appear to be in and it doesn’t seem to be too bad for what you get. The source is The China Times, and they state that the newly announced Chromebook from Acer will set you back about $349 which is about $50 more than last years touch screen model.
The new Acer Chromebook will be housing an Intel Core i3 processor, sadly that is really all that was mentioned for the new Chrome OS based notebook as Acer failed to mention when we can expect to buy one of these. They also left out any information on storage details, but we can probably guess it will be around 16GB like most,(although that is still just a guess)and more than likely offer 100GB of cloud storage through Google Drive as well. What most people might actually be waiting to hear is how much RAM will be at the users disposal, which we’re eager to hear about ourselves. Anyone who is seriously considering the new Acer Chromebook is probably hoping for 4GB of RAM instead of 2GB, but for now we’ll just have to wonder on those details.
Even if this Acer Chromebook only comes with 2GB of RAM, Acer executives said that they were planning to launch at two or three Chromebooks by the end of this year, so if we don’t get what we want this time around there might be a chance we’ll see the desired hardware and specs we want on one of the later models. There’s also always the possibility of holding out for a Chromebook from one of the other OEMs, as multiple other offerings will making their way onto shelves and websites this year as well.
