A new video leak has popped up showing off what looks like the Galaxy S5 Active that is due to land on AT&T in the near future. So far this year Samsung has been pretty good about keeping leaks of their devices off the world wide web, but they apparently weren’t able to keep this device from showing up on YouTube. It is quite possible that the device shown in the video is not the Galaxy S5 Active, but that would take some pretty talented editing to mock up the details we can see here, and we think it’s pretty obvious what we’re looking at.
A few key things to note are that we can see the “Powered by Android” message upon the device powering up, which we’ve been told would be gracing all new Android devices going forward in an attempt for Google to make sure that people know just what OS their devices are running. This message does show up on the original Galaxy S5 but the almost blindingly obvious details here are that the boot up splash screen displays “Samsung Galaxy S5 Active” instead of just Samsung Galaxy S5, and the navigation buttons at the bottom aren’t soft keys like on the original S5 but hard buttons with a ruggedized make up like on last years Galaxy S4 Active.
Once the phone gets flipped over to reveal the back of the device, we see design details that we pointed out earlier last week about the bolts that reside on the back. In our earlier post we mentioned that the bolts on the back are placed more towards the corners where on the S4 Active they sit more inward towards the center. You can also see that the speaker placement on the back is also at a vertical angle instead of horizontal like on the S4 Active, and of course there’s the addition of the new camera/LED flash/heart rate sensor combo on the back that should give everything away. The device in the video is described as a prototype version of the phone and not a production ready model, which is denoted by the plastering of the words not for resale all over it. At first glance it looks like the device is housed inside some sort of a bumper case, but that is in fact the part of the phones body. If you were curious to see what the phone would look like give the video a watch and be sure to catch it before it probably gets taken down, which usually happens with most leaks.
