The LG G3's Display Is Bigger, Brighter, And More Vivid Than Its Predecessor

LG’s latest is out in the open and has been announced officially earlier this morning. We already knew about the display from the specs that we gathered yesterday from the dutch LG website but lets recap. Before the specs were shown off ahead of the announcement, all we were really able to confirm by looking at the images was that the G3 would have some extremely slim bezels, and in fact it does have some of the smallest bezels we’ve seen. They’re certainly much closer to being non existent than the bezels on the two rival flagship devices it will be competing with, the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8, giving users a 76% screen ratio(the highest of any smartphone currently)to play games, read the news, watch videos and browse the web on, all with bright gorgeous color reproduction.

The 5.5-inch quad HD display will be packing 2K resolution(2560 x 1440)and it looks like it’ll be putting out some gorgeous vivid color output. We also got this impression from the images we saw of the developer edition test model for T-mobile that showed up a few days ago. LG seems to be making use of every inch of space they have to deliver a great visual appeal and user experience in the display department. It offers 538 PPI, and LG was able to achieve this by reducing the size of each individual pixel by 44%, delivering up an HD screen that is four times higher resolution than your standard HD screen for a smartphone. That type of screen resolution would arguably be thought of as taking up quite a bit more battery power while doing the same types of things that other phones without quad HD displays are also capable of. Thanks to LG’s innovation in their 3A addaptive technology, LG was able to increase the battery life of the device using “three adaptive” features, adaptive frame rate, adaptive clocking, and adaptive timing control, bringing the battery life up by about 20%.  Since nothing is moving, this equates to less energy being used, giving you more time to use the device overall without having to charge it up. With a display this beautiful, are you sold?
