This morning, LG announced the LG Volt which will be heading to Sprint’s prepaid carriers Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. The LG Volt will be available for $179, which is the complete cost of the phone, no contracts or subsidies here. The LG Volt is featuring a 4.7-inch qHD (960×540) resolution display, 1GB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which is a dual-core chip clocked at 1.2GHz, 8GB of storage, along with a microSD card slot that supports 64GB, 8 MP camera with BSI sensor, LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity as well as running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It will also be running LG’s custom skin.
Speaking of Optimus UI, the LG Volt will also be featuring Knock Code, which is the newest innovation from LG which they are pushing to all their devices. That includes their low-end and mid-range smartphones like the LG Volt. It was first announced on the LG G Pro 2, which doesn’t seem to be getting released anywhere else. You’ve also got Quick Memo, Quick Remote, QSlide and all the other goodies that LG likes to build into their smartphones these days.
The LG Volt is available at Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile today. So that you can head into one of their stores and check out the device or simply buy it from their website. It’s not yet available on Amazon, but it should be pretty soon. It’s a decent device for only $179, but still a hard sell over the Moto G, primarily because of it’s better screen. Although the LG Volt does have a microSD card slot so at least you’ll be able to expand your storage if needed. It’s a nice little smartphone and one that I’m sure will sell pretty well for Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. Any of our readers planning on picking one up? Let us know in the comments below.
