We reported a few days ago that the Motorola Moto G with the added LTE capability would be arriving on Rogers and Fido in the next coming weeks and it looks like the Moto G LTE (as they are calling it) will be available on Fido on June 17 according to a recent tweet of theirs (see below). They claim you can get the Moto G LTE for only $50 on a two-year TAB24 agreement on their standard plan and users that prefer no contract can snatch one up for only $225. It will be coming to the Rogers network as well for $0 for a two-year contract and $225 with no contract.
With already 150,000 HSPA Moto G’s in Canada, adding the LTE feature should help expand its presence even more in Canada. It is a great phone for a customer that may not want all of the bells and whistles – just a solid device that can make phone calls and text…after all, not everybody is a techno geek! It will also be a great device for young people getting their first smartphone and be a little easier on their parent’s wallet.
In its brief, five-month appearance, the Moto G has become the bestselling Motorola smartphone in their history. For its price range, the reviewers could not heap enough praise upon the Moto G – it rather bridges the gap between a full-featured device and the smartphone category. The only real downside to this device was that it only had 3G capabilities – which was a good place to start since the Moto G was destined for mostly emerging nations where 4G LTE is still hard to come by. However, progress is bringing even those countries into the LTE world and why wouldn’t the subscribers want access to all of that extra speed. Motorola continued the expansion on the Moto G by adding a microSD card slot to expand the Moto G LTE’s (as they are calling it) 8GB of internal storage.
Other than the mandatory 8GB of internal storage and the addition of the microSD card, the Moto G LTE will have the same specs as the original – 4.5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz coupled to 1GB of RAM. The main camera is a 5MP shooter with an LED flash and for video chatting and selfies, the front-facing camera is 1.3MP. It also comes with the latest Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
Please let us know on our Google+ Page if the Moto G LTE is a device that you will be picking up…as always, we would love to hear from you.
