Cases are just cases, right? Well not anymore. At least Cliq is looking to change that. On Thursday, May 13th, Cliq launched their Kickstarter campaign for their new case – which is pictured above and below – it’s a new touch sensitive case that appears to only be available for the Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, Nexus 5, Moto X and the LG G2 at this time. It looks like a typical TPU case, however it is made of a high grade polycarbonate and finished with a premium soft coating, but on the back are three buttons which are almost like capacitive buttons. They are touch sensitive and can be used to launch different things like the launch the camera, open up settings, start playing music and much more. It’s almost like having a NFC tag on the back of your phone. It’s also customizable, which is pretty awesome. Cliq will be available in five colors, that includes red, blue, orange, black and white. There’s no word on pricing just yet, but they are looking to have this case available in August.
The company states “We believe that people should get more from their cases than just protection. Smartphones are so technologically advanced it’s almost crazy that cases are still just an overpriced piece of plastic.” Cliq is definitely a cool idea, and one of the more cooler ones I’ve seen pop up on Kickstarter since Pressy – which Xiaomi ripped off. For those interested about the Kickstarter, it started up today and their goal is $40,000. They are also aiming to have these cases shipping out in August of this year. Which gives them a pretty short time to get everything rolling. But I have a feeling this is going to be a pretty huge Kickstarter, and they’ll likely hit that goal well in advance.
For those that want to follow Cliq and see what they are up to until their cases are available in August, feel free to follow them on Twitter @CliqCases, you can also check out their website. There’s also a video down below if you want to check that out, that shows exactly what Cliq’s plans are.
