With no prior indication that this Nexus 5 case was in the works, we now have a new and official Nexus 5 Snap Case in the Google Play Store. The new Snap Case is in stock now and available in several colors – Black, Aqua, Silver (gray), White or Clear. In keeping with the Nexus 5’s minimalist styling, the case is clean and plain with nothing but a simple “Google” logo embossed on its lower backside – we would like to have seen the word “Nexus” somewhere on the case…is that asking too much for $30.
The Play Store describes it as “A lightweight, durable case for your Nexus 5.” Because it is design specifically for the Nexus 5 you get a perfect fit – it is very lightweight, but gives your device a simple and subtle protection weighing in at only 14 grams. This is a fairly plain and lightweight case for $30 in the Play Store…just keep in mind that you could easy go to Amazon and get a similar case for only about $10 – but when you get an “official” accessory, you must expect to pay a premium price. It just seems like they could have made it a little more substantial for $30 and especially add the Nexus name to the case.
