OnePlus has left many enthusiasts excited over the idea of finally being able to get a hold of one of their devices. The long drawn out ad campaigns through social media with the “Never Settle” mantra only sought to increase excitement, and for many that is exactly what happened. That excitement fizzled a tiny bit for some when they learned how long it would be before the average consumer would be able to get a chance at buying one. As OnePlus told us earlier they had a timeline laid out for when we could expect to see the shipments for devices, and they were going to be starting with the 16GB $299 model which was to get a release of a small batch sometime in the next couple weeks, with the 64GB version of the OnePlus One not getting a potential small batch release until sometime in early June. Late June is when most people are expected to have the chance to purchase one when they have more stock.
It looks like we might end up seeing the first batch of 64GB model devices show up sooner than early June though, as OnePlus seems to be shifting around their efforts in the attempt to get the 64GB Sandstone Black devices out by late May as opposed to early June. Unsurprisingly, most people are actually more interested in the 64GB model of the OnePlus One and why shouldn’t they be? It has the some amazing specs that can put it on par with other flagships, and is only $349 with double the storage of the Nexus 5 which is $50 more. OnePlus is starting to take notice of that, which is why they’re apparently pushing back their production of the Silk White 16GB models just a little so they can bring forward the first batch of 64GB models. While most people will likely still have to wait until late June or later to buy one, at least now more people will have the opportunity to get their hands on the one they really want sooner.
Today’s update sees OnePlus ramping up their production efforts, and hopefully they’ll exceed their timeline goal and present the world with a nice surprise of an earlier availability than planned.
