Phonebloks wants to Stick Modules in other Devices as Well, Asks for More Partners

Project Ara is like a tech geek’s wet dream. Being able to switch out the camera or processor for a newer one without having to buy a whole other phone. Or you can just build your own phone from the get go. Phonebloks is part of Project Ara with Google/Motorola, and they’ve put out a new video today basically stating that they want to put modules in more than just smartphones. I’m thinking tablets, wearables, etc., and they are also asking for more partners. Imagine this, being able to build your own microwave or refrigerator like your smartphone? Okay that might be a little overboard. Phonebloks wants to see all internet-connected devices as modular devices. So that’s tablets, laptops, wearables, and everything in between. And honestly, I can get behind that.

What Phonebloks is saying is basically taking out the processor in your smart TV and replacing it with a newer one. Say your smart TV came with a Tegra 4 processor, and now you want to upgrade to the Tegra K1, easy. Just take it out and put the Tegra K1 inside. Sounds awesome right? Imagine that for every device in your house?

Phonebloks has also announced that they have a new partnership, this time with Sennheiser. Which many of you have probably heard of Sennheiser, but they are a German company that has a huge history in audio. With headphones, microphones, and plenty of other audio production devices. In fact, I know quite a few people that love their headphones. So great to see them on board. Hopefully we’ll see Audio Technica, and Bose jump on board with Phonebloks soon as well.
