Press Shots of Huawei's Ascend P7 Launch Out Ahead of Launch

If you’re a fan of Huawei’s ridiculously thin, fashionable smartphones, then you’re looking forward to the launch of the Ascend P7. Rumored for some time now, the device is scheduled to be announced next week in Paris come May 7th. However, it’s already been spotted a number of times and now, the infamous @evleaks, has gotten his hands on some press shots of the device that we’ll no doubt being seeing next week during the official launch.

The press shots show off a very sleek device that takes after last year’s Ascend P6, and borrows more than a little inspiration from the iPhone’s design. We doubt Apple minds though, they’re too busy suing Samsung once again. It might well be a sleek device, but it’s made of premium materials, with a metal bezel encasing the design around the sides and what we’re assuming are glass panels on the front and back like last year’s. It’s clear that the P7 has grown a little compared the Ascend P6, but with that brings a better display and hopefully, a bigger battery to boot. The screen has grown to 5-inches in order to accommodate the 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Other specs we know about so far is the quad-core Kirin 910T CPU designed in-house by Huawei clocked at 1.8 Ghz, we’re assuming this is coupled with 2GB of RAM as well. There’s said to be a 13-megapixel camera, a microSD card slot to help the 16GB storage and a 2,500 mAh battery. All of this is to be house in a casing less than 7mm thick. No matter how you feel about Huawei, that’s impressive and considering the Ascend P line has always been a little more about looks rather than specs, Huawei seem to have done a good job here. A 108op display is more than good enough at those sizes and while their own CPU might not keep up with the Snapdragon 800s out there, we’re sure it’ll be good enough for everyday use. Next week, come May 7th, the Ascend P7 will be revealed. In the meantime, you can take a look at the leaked press shots in the gallery below.
