As someone who is constantly changing devices, it’d be nice to have an app that could back up all my apps without needing me to log back into them once I’ve restored them on my phone. Because that too can turn into a big hassle. Thanks to XDA Recognized Developer bartito, we now have Apps Backup which allow you to easily backup and restore your apps, and their app data. So it’s better than what the Play Store does, which is just restoring your apps – you still need to login and adjust the settings. The app will also sync your settings at intervals so that it has the most up-to-date data saved.
However, there is a downside to this app, it only stores your saved data and apps on your SD card. So if you have a device, like me, like the LG G2 that doesn’t have a microSD card slot, this app is basically of no use to you. Hopefully there will be a way to add cloud storage options. For instance, it’d be great to store the backup in Google Drive or Dropbox. That way when I flash a new ROM I can just download the backup and voila. Apps Backup does need root, so if you’re not rooted, the app will be basically useless to you as well.
The app is available on the Play Store and is free. Although there are some in-app purchases. One is to get rid of the ads, the other is to use the app past the 7-day trial period. Which there is a key for the pro version over on XDA, if you want to check that out, it’ll be in the source links below. It’s a great app, but I do think it needs a bit more work before it can work 100%, at least for me. How many of you are going to try it out? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
