Of all the things that Google Glass can do or not do, one of the things that Glass owners have to have been thinking about is the ability to use Google Wallet with the device. Glass is ever expanding and it able to a great many things for it’s short time out in the wild and while being worn on the faces of so many explorers. A new rumor floating around is that Google may be testing out a way to allow Google Glass owners to send money to friends, which doesn’t seem terribly unrealistic and if it pans out to be true, could actually be kind of cool in the long run when Glass is a more widely available product, meaning the general public can get their hands on a release ready version.
Keep in mind that this is just a rumor so take it with a heavy grain of salt. As with all Google Glass enabled features, sending money to your friends via Google Wallet with your Glass unit would probably be activated by the “Ok Glass” hotword, upon which you could presumably tap the side of the device to select and send your designated amounts, while using your finger to swipe back and forth could scroll you through currency amounts before sending off the cash. Using your voice to tell Glass the amount you want to send could be an easy way to select the amount as well. The functionality and commands though Glass are purely my speculation on how Google Wallet via Glass could work as they seem the most likely. At the moment the feature is said to be getting an internal testing with Glass toting googlers, which wouldn’t surprise us as this is usually how all things are tested with the search giant.
If and when this feature comes to anyone who owns Google Glass, we would think that the feature would be added into Glass via one of the many updates that Google has been so keen to push out more frequently so far this year. If you use Google Glass currently and are looking forward to this feature look out for the possibility of it making a live appearance down the line, and as stated earlier, this is a rumor with no official source, so while we’d be excited for this feature become a reality, for now we just have to wonder.
