Voice enabled features on Android are becoming more and more prominent. One of the newest changes to come to Android using Google Now’s voice recognition features is the ability to confirm a voice enabled reminder by using your voice as well, instead of tapping on screen that Google had gotten things right. Setting reminders inside of Google Now using your voice is not new but the act of simply saying “yes” to confirm that the reminder was right has just been activated today. The nice thing is that you can think of the features as having already been enabled on the user end, but Google hadn’t yet turned on the feature from their server side of things. Now that they have taken care of that part of it the feature works for users without having to receive any sort of updates. That means you don’t have to wait for any updates to the Google Search app to hit the Play Store and notify you via the status bar.
After my own personal use of the feature it seems to work perfectly fine even with background noise from Google Play Music coming from my laptop. As always though with Google Voice it seems to be picky when you try to say things too fast, so instead of attempting to set your reminder like your the next best auctioneer talking at the speed of light, slowing things down a bit can ensure Google hears what you’re saying correctly and feed back the right results.
With this change this basically makes it so that all you have to do is tap once on the mic button from the Google Search widget, or tap once to open Google Now and from there you can speak your way through the rest of the task of setting a reminder. It should be pretty simple for most and while the experiences may vary for everyone the feature seems to work pretty well.
