Sony Leaks the Verizon Xperia Z2 on Google+ [Updated]

So much for it being a ghost town, but Sony leaked the Verizon Xperia Z2 on their official Google+ page. Sony has already told us that they’d be offering the Xperia Z2 in the US as an unlocked device, although we did hear back in March that Verizon would have an exclusive on the Sony Xperia Z2. Which a lot of us took with a pinch of salt, since Sony and CDMA carriers don’t really work out too well. In fact, the last Sony phone that Verizon carried was the Xperia Play. That turned out pretty good for Verizon and Sony, right?

Last night, Sony was doing their normal marketing stuff on Google+, but they put out a picture of the Xperia Z2 with the Sony logo on the bottom bezel and the Verizon logo on the top on. As you can see in the image above. So it’s all but confirmed now to be heading to Verizon. Hopefully they get it released soon, as I know a ton of people on big red looking for the Xperia Z2. While we do see the Xperia Z2 with Verizon branding, it’s important to remember that until it’s announced, it’s not really confirmed. I mean we did see the Verizon HTC Merge back in the day, which never made it to Verizon Wireless.

The Xperia Z2 features a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It’s definitely a beast of a device. And on Verizon’s network, it’s going to be a real beast, with that beastly network behind it. How many of you are excited for the Sony Xperia Z2 on Verizon Wireless? Are any of you waiting for that device, before you upgrade? Wonder how many customers Verizon will steal from their competitors thanks to the Xperia Z2?

Update: Sony sent us the following comment in regards to this mock-up that appeared on Google+ last night “A mock-up image was mistakenly posted to the Sony Mobile Google+ page. The image has since been removed and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused. For our U.S. customers eager to find out more information about the availability of Xperia Z2, we are excited to share that the device will be coming to the U.S. unlocked this summer.”
