TYLT Starts Kickstarter Campaign for Travel Charger with 2000mAh Battery Built-in

Today, TYLT started a new Kickstart campaign for a product that is pretty awesome. It’s basically a wall adapter, but with a twist. It’s not your normal wall adapter for charging your devices, which you can tell that it’s much larger. That’s because it has a 2000mAh battery inside. Basically what this means is that it can charge your device without it being plugged into the wall. And when it is plugged into the wall it can charge both the charger and your smartphone. TYLT explains how it all began for them in 2012, on their Kickstarter page:

“In 2012 the TYLT team started to dream about a wall charger that could house a battery with enough power to charge the typical smartphone, and more important cost the same as a standard wall charger.  We designed, tinkered, and laid down the foundation and applied for a US Patent and waited.”

TYLT unveiled this prototype back at CES in January and it got some pretty big reviews. Of course, now the Kickstarter has started so now we’re really anxious to get our hands on one. Some important notes on the Kickstarter and the product are: Early bird Kickstarter price of $20, a 50% discount from the $40 retail price, Foldable AC wall prongs, Internal, rechargeable 2,200mAh battery, Universal USB port, 1 amp circuit for rapid charging, and a LED battery status indicator.

The Kickstarter started today and will end on June 18th at 3:10pm EDT. Their pledge goal right now is $50,000. At the time of writing this, they had 5 backers for $160. You can pledge as little as $1, or as much as a few thousand. Although I don’t know if I’d pledge that much for a wall charger. But it’s a pretty neat idea, and we’re excited to get our hands on the TYLT Energi 2K Travel Charger. Anyone else out there planning on pledging for this Kickstarter campaign?
