Since Samsung changed their look a little with the Galaxy Note 3 and started shipping devices with faux-leather backs some thought it was a good move while others thought it was a step in the wrong direction. Personally, I quite like the leather backing on their new device, but I think a lot of people would agree with me when I say they’ve taken it a little too far using it on most of their high-end devices. No matter what though, it looks like the industry has taken note, as an upcoming device from Huawei seemingly apes the design that we first saw from Samsung with the Galaxy Note 3.
A backpanel for an upcoming, unannounced Huawei device has been spotted on Chinese social media. The white, faux-leather back will seem familiar to anyone who’s seen a device from Samsung in the last 8 months or so and it’s even got the same stitching around the sides. This unknown device is said to feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display with MediaTek’s Octa-Core MT6592 CPU, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera. The device is apparently a “refresh” of sorts to Huawei’s Glory 3X device and said to gain the “Pro” suffix when it officially launches. One thing’s certain though, this looks a lot like something Samsung would ship on the back of one of their high-end devices.
Of course, there’s nothing to suggest that Samsung invented faux-leather with stitching before, but it is one of the more unique looking designs on shelves right now. We can’t imagine Samsung is going to be too pleased with Huawei when this makes it to market and it’ll certainly be interesting to see if Samsung take legal action against the Chinese manufacturer.
