This morning, ZTE announced the new Concord II smartphone which is landing on T-Mobile and MetroPCS. It’s a 4-inch device, and definitely a mid-ranger from ZTE. The ZTE Concord II is available at T-Mobile today for nothing down, while MetroPCS will get the Concord II on May 19th, so far there’s no word on MetroPCS’ pricing of the device. But MetroPCS does have plans starting at just $40/month.
As far as the specs go, the ZTE Concord II has a 4-inch TFT LCD 800×480 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8210 dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 5MP camera with auto-focus and built-in LED flash, 1820mAh battery along with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage. It also does support a microSD card slot up to 32GB of extra storage. Dimensions are 4.96 x 2.56 x 0.43-inches and weighs about 4.4 ounces.
“The Concord II from ZTE offers that ideal combination of functionality and affordable pricing so consumers can stay connected with family and friends on a sleek device within their budget,” said Lixin Cheng, Chairman and CEO of ZTE USA. “With the arrival of the all-new Concord II at T-Mobile and MetroPCS, ZTE is able to continue our mission of giving consumers a range of choices through a wide variety of smartphone devices.”
It’s a great looking device from ZTE, and it’s definitely nice to see them beginning to make a push into the US market. Although, it’d be nice to see their higher end models make it into the US as well, and onto carriers. You can check out the Concord II for both T-Mobile and MetroPCS in the photo gallery below. It may not compete against the Moto G all that well. But the thing to remember here is that the ZTE Concord II is sold at T-Mobile and the Moto G isn’t, which means the Concord II is going to have WiFi calling, which might be a big deal to some of you.
