If you use Chromecast for a good majority of your video streaming needs but have been missing the benefits of what live TV has to offer then Aereo is worth looking into. The popular streaming service had previously announced that they would be bringing Chromecast support to their app and that day is finally upon us. This adds one more option to the long list of video choices one already has when looking for content they can stream to the big screen, but offers a slightly different set of features than what is out there for the most part already. Mainly the live TV part.
Aereo is offering up the ability to get live TV streaming capabilities right to your Android device of choice, and has the Chromecast streaming support built right in now, so not only can you watch live TV while on the go but should you be relaxing on the couch at home you can enjoy the content of live TV in the comfort of your own residence too. The service starts at $8 a month, which is an extremely low cost when compared to most mainstream cable providers. Compare that to your Comcast bill for the TV portion only and see how it stacks up. Aereo offer a $12 a month subscription as well and users who subscribe to Aereo can get up to 60 hours of cloud storage as part of Aereos DVR feature.
Aereo seems like it might be a great option for anyone looking to let go of their traditional cable provider but it likely won’t carry every single channel you’re looking for so you would be doing yourself a disservice not to check and see if they cover the networks and shows that you’re wanting to watch. Aereo is also offering up a promotion for new Android service sign ups right now that carries through July 8th, that allows the user to get their first month of the service free after signing up, which means you won’t be paying the actual monthly fee until your second month starts. Pretty neat. Thanks to the now available Chromecast support, users can start a show at home from the couch, and then carry it with them should they end up having to leave and stream it from their mobile device. You can download the Aereo app from the Play Store which is free, and then setting up the subscription is done from inside the application.
