Amazon Prime has gone from being just about faster delivery times to a nearly complete entertainment package for subscribers. With a Netflix sort of video subscription service now bundled in, with some original shows and an excellent selection of TV, the only thing Amazon is missing is music. That’s changed now though, as Amazon Prime now includes an all-you-can-eat Music subscription. This has only just been quietly added to the service and there’s been no official announcement from Amazon, at least not at the time of writing, but the service is live and available for Prime members to take a look at.
Amazon is promising millions of songs and hundreds of Playlists for Prime members to listen to. Right now, it appears this is a US-only addition to the Prime package, but it could roll out in other countries. As you can see above, playlists are put together with some of the latest tracks and Kelly Clarkson fans will have something to celebrate. Much like Google Play’s All Access subscription, you can download music to listen to when you’re offline with no limits using the Cloud Player on Kindle Fires, Android or your computer. We’re sure that the online giant is hoping to bring in some new members with the 1, 2 punch of music and video to go along with those faster shipping times. This also puts Amazon in direct competition with the likes of Spotify, Beats Music and of course, Google.
The early launch of the service could have a lot to do with a June 18th event that Amazon is holding, where we’re assuming the eCommerce giant is to release their first smartphone, and what better way to do it than with all the music you could ever want?
