Yesterday, Google gave us a short preview of Android L on stage in the Google I/O keynote. They stated that it would be available as a developer preview today. Well those previews just landed. So that we can now start flashing our Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 to Android L, for those brave enough to do so. For those interested, here’s the link for downloading the factory images for the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi. You’ll flash it just like any other factory image. Which, honestly, the easiest way to do it is to download a Nexus root toolkit like Wugfresh’s, which allows you to flash a factory image really easy. Just choose this factory image and flash it. It’ll take some time, and you’ll likely need to root later on if you really want root. But on a Nexus that’s pretty simple to do anyways.
For those without a Nexus device, you’ll have to wait for a port, until this fall when Android L is released. It’s important to remember that this is a developer preview so there will be bugs obviously, since it’s not final software. Although I’m sure some ROM developers are already working on getting Android L ported to some devices, now that the factory image and the SDK are out. I wouldn’t run a port, at least not at this time since it’s no where near finished software. But those really anxious can go ahead.
If any of you decide to flash Android L, let us know how it goes for you. Also let us know how you like all the new features in Android L like Personal unlocking and most importantly the new design for Android L. Let us know in the comments below.
