Archos has two new Android smartphones available that surprisingly, for the specs that they have inside come attached with a somewhat low cost. The Archos 50c Oxygen and Archos 50b Oxygen, both come with 5-inch IPS HD displays, so if you’re looking for something that can deliver on the size front when it comes to the screen, both the Archos 50c Oxygen and the Archos 50b Oxygen could fit the bill for a new device. While the price seems to good to be true for what you get, don’t let the inexpensive cost fool you, both phones should be able to deliver a good experience.
Lets start with the Archos 50c Oxygen. Like we stated above it has a 5-inch IPS HD display, and it packs an 8MP rear facing camera and a 2MP front facing camera, and on the inside you’re looking at only 1GB of RAM sadly, but it does carry a MediaTek MT6592 octa-core CPU inside clocked at 1.7GHz. It’s got 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded upon with a microSD card up to 64GB when formatted to the fat32 standard. It uses a SGX544 GPU for the graphics, and a 2,000mAh battery for power. It’s dual-SIM capable, but unfortunately does not support LTE. All your other standard wireless technologies are there minus NFC. It measures at just 7.64mm thin, so there shouldn’t be any worry about it taking up too much space in a pocket. When it comes to the Archos 50b Oxygen, you’re looking at the same size and type of display as well as resolution at 1280 x 720, but the octa-core CPU moves down to a quad-core. The RAM stays the same at 1GB, and you have options of either 4GB or 8GB for internal storage with this model which is also expandable via microSD. The rear facing camera on the 50b Oxygen is 5MP instead of 8MP, but literally everything else is the same when it comes to specs. As for the cost on the 50b, you’re looking at £129 so you save a little bit more money here. Both devices run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which might be the one major drawback but even that isn’t too bad. Both these devices seem to be available in the UK only as the buy now button disappeared when I went to these phones from the U.S. website.
