Lately, we’ve been wondering about how great the camera is on all of these new flagship devices. So since the Nexus 5 last fall, we’ve been doing camera shootouts with other flagships to see just how great the camera really is. Since I own the LG G2 and it’s been my daily driver for the past 6 months, it’s only fitting that we compare the LG G3 to the LG G2 first. And see exactly how far we’ve come. Now the LG G2 was held back quite a bit, and most of you probably know that I’ve been running the G Pro 2 Camera mod on the LG G2, but I went back to stock for this comparison so it would be fair. So we’re using the camera that shipped on the LG G2, vs the camera that is shipping on the LG G3. We took pictures in low light, macro, max zoom level, and outdoors. And compare them side-by-side. Settings are on auto for both cameras, so it’d be as fair as possible.
Note: Full resolution versions of these pictures are available here on Flickr.
Low Light
Here are two images that we did in low lighting. On the left is the G2, the right is the G3:
Macro
Next up is macro mode. We shot this outdoors while it was raining, so you can see the raindrops there, which is a nice touch I think. Again the G2 is on the left and the G3 on the right.
Outdoor
This picture was taken of the colorful brick wall outside, which I use in the background of a lot of pictures. Again, G2 on the left, and the G3 is on the right.
Zoom
This final set of images are all the way zoomed in at 8.0x. So they will look a bit blurry, but that’s because they are zoomed in so far. Just like before, the G2 is on the left and the G3 is on the right.
Final Thoughts
As usual, I’ll let you be the judge of which one is better, but I’m impressed with both cameras. The focus on the LG G3 is definitely faster. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
