Chromecast is getting some royal treatment today with support for some more new apps. The apps themselves aren’t new but the Chromecast support for them is, and plenty of people will be happy to have the compatibility for them. Google+ photos is now supported through Chromecast, so if you wanted to cast your photos to the big screen and we assume this would include the auto awesomes and everything else in there, you can now do so. It’s definitely a small thing compared to most of the other big apps that have already gotten official support, but it’s cool and nice to have.
Two more apps getting Chromecast support today should draw in the sports fans out there. If you’re a football fan, or a futbol fan, you should be happy to know that the WatchESPN and Major League Soccer apps both now have compatibility with Chromecast so you can stream all the best sports highlights, games clips, and full matches to the big screen any time. Both these apps require a subscription to view the content, much like Netflix or Hulu Plus, so no free sports content here. If you already have subs to both or one of those apps though you can now enjoy all the sports you were watching on your device, on whatever big screen or monitor you have your Chromecast plugged into. What a great way to watch the game at family events where your relatives may not have cable.
Lastly, another app to get newly supported Chromecast compatibility is for the anime lovers out there. I know my fellow Naruto fans will know what I’m talking about. Crunchyroll. Yes, Crunchyroll is not a sushi special that you can have served up on a plate,(at least nowhere I’ve been)but an awesome application that allows you access to tons of the hottest and most popular new anime, as they air in Japan. Not only do you get access to current anime as soon as it airs, but you also have a large library of older shows to watch as well with favorites like bleach and Deathnote. Crunchyroll is also a subscription based app and service, so expect to fork out a monthly fee for all of these new supported apps, minus Google+ photos. Is anyone using the sports apps or Crunchyroll currently?
