If you use Copy as your main source of cloud storage, you’re in for some good news today. Their Android app was updated with support for streaming files to Chromecast. Now you can use your Copy storage to house your music, photos, and video, and then stream them to your Chromecast right from the Copy app. The app update also brings major stability improvements and some UI enhancements with it.
Copy is one of a handful of good cloud storage options out there. They updated their free storage amount to 15GB last month, after Google upped the free storage on Drive/Gmail to 15GB. Copy has a slew of other great features. They don’t impose any file size limits, which is something that most other cloud storage services have. They give you the option of syncing your files from other storage services like Drive or Box, and now they have Chromecast streaming built right into the Android app. Copy has a great referral program, too. They offer 5GB of extra storage for both the referring person and the person who is using the referral link. Speaking of extra free storage, here is a referral link if you’d like to grab an additional 5GB of space just for yourself. 😉
They have paid storage plans as well. Their Pro plan gets you 250GB of storage for $9.99 per month. You can buy that on a yearly plan for just $99. There’s a 500GB plan for $14.99 or $149 yearly. Copy has some interesting “Fair Storage” plans, too. These plans split the cost of the shared storage based on what each person is using. If you have 5 users sharing 25GB of space, each person only pays for 5GB. This saves you from having to cover the cost of all the storage on your own. It makes sense to handle it that way, and most companies don’t offer to split up the cost of the plan among all of the users this way. Dropbox is still the king when it comes to cloud storage, but Copy has a lot of things going for it. We can add Chromecast streaming to that list as well.
