Featured Review: Incipio offGRID Portable Backup Battery 4,000mAh with Qi Wireless Charging

Incipio sent over a couple of new toys for me to review here at Android Headlines. One was the wireless charging base which I reviewed earlier this week. Now here is the offGRID Portable Backup battery 4,000mAh. As you probably expected, it does have a 4000mAh battery inside and can charge your device throughout the day. But there’s a hidden gem with this one. And that is the Qi Wireless charging that’s built in. So that you can set it down on a Qi wireless charger and charge your battery pack. It’s unclear if you can charge your phone with this battery via Wireless Charging, and I was unable to test it out since none of the phones that I have in my possession have wireless charging capability, unfortunately.

It does only have one USB port for charging a device, and the other is for charging the battery pack, if you don’t have a wireless charger. This one is going for about $70 from Incipio and Amazon right now. It was able to charge up my LG G2 from about 15% to 100% and then died shortly after that. Which is about what I expected given the capacity of the LG G2’s battery and the battery pack from Incipio. It’s pretty light-weight and is small, which you can see in the image below. It does also have 4 LED lights that indicate how much battery is left, along with a power button. So that when it’s not being used, it’s not using too much juice. Which is always a good thing.

Incipio does have a few other battery packs. The offGRID battery packs come in 4,000, 6,000, and 8,000mAh but those do not include Qi wireless charging. So far this is the only one from Incipio that does wireless charging. For those interested, you can buy the OffGRID battery pack from the links below.
