The Galaxy S5 Prime has become something of a legend when it comes to rumor, we’ve been hearing about it for such a long time and now, it looks the device is actually inching closer and closer to becoming reality. It’s just ticked over into June now and as we’re all waiting for the next Galaxy Note device to launch towards the beginning of the Fall, it doesn’t look like there’s going to much room for the Galaxy S5 Prime to shine. Still, as LG have just announced something of a powerhouse in the G3, we’re sure Samsung can squeeze another high-end device in before the Galaxy Note 4 launches.
As our friends over at GforGames have seemingly uncovered, a new Samsung device with the model number of SM-G906 has been spotted in the Radio Research Agency, an institution similar to our FCC here in the States. Informed readers will have no doubt realized that the SM-G906 model number has been associated with the Galaxy S5 Prime for quite a while now and even seen in shipping documents. In South Korea meanwhile, three variants have been certified, the SM-G906L for the LG U+ network, the SM-G906S for the SK Telecom network and finally the SM-G906K for KT mobile. Sure, this doesn’t tell us much more – if anything – that we didn’t know before, but it could be a sign that the Galaxy S5 Prime – or whatever the device is – is destined for a bigger release than we first thought.
The Galaxy S5 Prime is said to feature a 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 display, the latest Exynos 5 Octa CPU and an Intel LTE modem and is said to be poised to directly compete with LG’s G3. As the device’s rumored release date is to be somewhere around June, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to see just what the SM-G906 actually is, be it Prime or not.
