Just yesterday, Google made Android Wear official and released the SDK for Android Wear at Google I/O. There’s also a couple of Android Wear smartwatches already available on the Play Store, that’s the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live. For the most part, Android Wear is just a watch for notifications. Although you can go ahead and reply to texts, and emails using your voice which is pretty nice. Both smartwatches will be shipping out next week. But now Google Keep has been updated for Android Wear. What Google told us yesterday was that apps for Android Wear will be part of their Android app. So for instance if you download Eat 24/7, it’ll install the Android app and the Android Wear component as well on your phone. So you don’t have a separate app store for Android Wear. Like Pebble, Samsung and Sony have done with their smartwatches.
Google Keep hit version 2.3 now, and according to the teardown that Android Police has done with the APK, it looks like Android Wear is baked into the app now. Which is great to see. There’s also a string for audio, but there’s nothing else with it so it looks like this is just groundwork for something in the future. The update is available now, but rolling out in stages as you’d expect. So if you’re looking to grab the update now we’ve got the APK down below.
For those looking to get the update now, you’ll need to download the APK below. Then you’ll need to jump into Security > Unknown Sources, which you want to make sure Unknown Sources is checked. Then just install the APK, and you’re all set. How many of you are excited for Android Wear? Let us know in the comments down below.
