Next week is like Christmas for most Android fans. Why? Because it’s Google’s developer conference. In past year’s we’ve gotten new hardware, software, and all kinds of new services to play with like Google Play Music All Access. This year, we’re expecting it to be all about Android Wear, which is Google’s newest OS for wearables. We know that the LG G Watch and the Moto 360 will likely make an appearance, and rumor has it that all attendees will receive the LG G Watch as well. We also hearing that the LG G Watch is the reference device for Android Wear, so basically the Nexus of Android Wear. That’s huge for LG, and it’ll be interesting to see how well it does everything. But with Google doing the software, I have a feeling it’ll work really well.
Today, Google posted an introduction video to Android Wear. They discuss the voice control, notifications and a bunch of other features that are a part of Android Wear. We’ve got the video down below for those interested. Android Wear is definitely going to be exciting. Not because it’s Google’s first wearables, but because we finally have a platform. All the smartwatches that are currently available all use different platforms and OS. Samsung’s Gear watches run on Tizen, while Pebble and Sony’s smartwatch all run on their own platform that the companies developed. So it’ll be great to have one platform for all these manufacturers. This way we can use the same apps on them all and the software will be relatively similar as well.
