LG Explains their Flatter UI Design on the LG G3

Since Apple unveiled their redesign for iOS 7 last year, it seems like everyone has been following them. Since then Samsung has redone their Touchwiz UI and went flat, and so has LG with their Optimus UI – which can be seen on the LG G3. So why exactly is everyone going to a flatter UI? Well it’s simple. That’s what the world is going to these days, getting away from skeumorphism that we’ve seen in user interfaces for years now. LG has put together a nice video explaining why they went with a flatter UI and how it benefits us, as the consumer. That video is at the bottom of this post if you’re interested.

LG says that by going to a clean, minimal look, it helps the consumer find what they want and use the device better and easier. I happen to like the flat UI as it looks a lot less ugly than what they had on the LG G2 last year, and other LG devices in the past. They also used mature feeling colors, which toned down UI as well, and made each color exclusive to each app. For example the Music app is in purple, Messages in yellow, etc. It’s definitely a well put together video and worth checking out.

So far there’s still no word on when the LG G3 will be available here in the US, but it should be fairly soon. As our European friends are getting the G3 next week. Hopefully we’ll hear something from our friends at Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T soon about release dates and pre-orders as it’s a pretty awesome phone, and one that I think will sell very well. Are any of you interested in picking up a LG G3 when they become available here in the US? Let us know in the comments down below.
