Earlier in the year, LG announced a new line of G Pad tablets, but didn’t really tell us anything more than the fact they were coming, and that they’d be colorful. Now though, LG is ready to share some more information with us and with more info on the devices’ specs it’s pretty clear that LG is looking to deliver budget-minded devices that everyone can use. The three tablets come in 7, 8 and 10.1-inch variants and share some common DNA, one of which is color. These are the most colorful tablets LG has ever released and some of the most colorful tablets that anyone has made in recent years.
All of the three new G Pads are packed with a 1.2 Ghz Quad-Core CPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage and 5-megapixel and 1.3-megapixel cameras. Regardless of each tablet’s size, a 1280 x 800 IPS display is used, a far cry from the dense display of the G3. However, some of the G3 has made its way to these new tablets like KnockCode and the new UI that debuted with the G3. Key features like the latest version of QPair are here as well and many software features from the G3 have proudly made the jump here, like the smart keyboard that LG announced to solve sizing problems when typing.
LG is pushing the idea that these are tablets for everyday use, with a focus on battery life and affordability. We mentioned that these are colorful tablets,that’s because the 7 and 8-inch versions will be available in Black, White, Luminous Orange and Luminous Blue, with the G Pad 10.1 coming in Black and Red. The G Pad 7 and 8 feature 4,000 and 4,200 mAh batteries, respectively while the G Pad 10.1 features a massive 8,000 mAh battery for all day use and beyond. Coupled with LG’s excellent attention to detail when it comes to optimizing for battery life and these tablets should really go the distance. With no official word on pricing or even a concrete release date, it’s hard to say much more about these tablets. However, we doubt that a release date is too far away and judging from these specs, these could end up being some good first-time tablets or budget offerings for those not interested in packing extra for features they might not ever use.
