The OnePlus One has been on a bumpy road ever since it was announced back in April. First we heard that it’d be available in May, then June, then it went to late-May. Well invites actually went out last week, because they were delayed due to a few software bugs. Now we’re looking at yet another delay, this time it’s software once again. It’s good that they are getting all of these bugs worked out ahead of time, but still sad to see all these delays on the OnePlus One. Here’s what the company said about the delay:
“As we previously mentioned, the software recently received a major update but we are still working on perfecting some final issues. For that reason, we can’t yet confirm the exact date that the phone will ship. We are tirelessly working to make the One the phone you’ve been waiting for and so we’re going to hold off until we know that everything runs smoothly before sending them off. We can assure you we’ll keep you well updated on the progress and will get the phones to you as soon as we possibly can.”
It is important to remember that this is two companies, OnePlus and CyanogenMod, and they are bot equally responsible for these delays, although when it comes down to software, it’s more Cyanogen than OnePlus. But hopefully they get these issues worked out soon so that those that ordered their OnePlus One can actually get their hands on theirs and play around with it. For $350 it’s still a pretty amazing device, I mean it even beats the Nexus pricing. Featuring a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for $350 is pretty crazy.
