It’s quite clear that OnePlus didn’t expect their first device to be as popular as it is. it’s one of those devices that everyone is clamoring to have. And rightfully so with it’s 5.5-inch 1920×1080 resolution display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 13MP camera and a 3100mAh battery for $349, that’s quite a deal in my opinion. One that’s hard to toss up, especially if you run CyanogenMod on your device already.
OnePlus has taken to their forums today, to discuss a few concerns. One is the availability of the OnePlus One. OnePlus states that they did not expect this type of hype or interest in their device and are quickly working on ways to increase their production and get more units available sooner. “We are exploring ways to increase our [their] production yield.”So hopefully we’ll be out of the invite stage soon enough, so that everyone can get their hands on the OnePlus One. They said that they are working to speed things up, but they definitely didn’t expect to see this for their very first flagship device.
“As a startup, survival is a big concern. Sitting with excess inventory is something that can quickly kill us. Therefore, our initial sales estimations were conservative. We didn’t expect the One to be such a popular device, and this has resulted in a shortage of stock.”
OnePlus also mentioned the yellow tint that some are seeing on their displays. OnePlus is taking the blame for that, but they have also mentioned that you can adjust the hue by going to Settings > Display > Screen Color > Hue and change the hue yourself, and change it to your liking, which is a good thing I think.
So hopefully we see more OnePlus One’s becoming available very soon, all the reviews I’ve seen of the device have been very positive, especially when it comes to the camera and battery life, which is something the Nexus always struggled with.
