Galaxy device fans and Note series enthusiasts should pay close attention here, the next generation of the Gear smartwatch from Samsung, assumed to be called the Gear 3 is being rumored to be unveiled in September alongside the Galaxy Note 4, which is also rumored to get its official unveiling that month. Sources close to the Korean Herald tell them that the Gear 3 may end up getting bundled with the Galaxy Note 4 in the fall when it’s said that Samsung will show it off. This is just a rumor of course with no hard evidence to support it, but if we look at what Samsung did with the Galaxy Note 3 and the original Galaxy Gear smartwatch last year, this doesn’t seem like an impossible scenario.
Last year at IFA Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 3 alongside the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, Samsung’s very first ever smartwatch to hit the scene, running a version of Android. We would hardly call it being unveiled and launched alongside the Galaxy Note 3 a bundle, but you get the idea. The next upcoming iteration of the Gear smartwatch from Samsung should be running Tizen just like the Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo that it released earlier last month, and just like the original Galaxy Gear now that it has gotten the update Samsung said it would release for to bring it in line with other 2 Gear smartwatches running Tizen.
Samsung is also reportedly working on a Gear smartwatch that is said to have connectivity to cell networks, and carrying a SIM card inside that allows it to do so, which would allow it to work free and independent of your smartphone and its Bluetooth connection. The Gear 2 Solo as it’s being called around the web right now could possibly get an announcement before the next official Gear smartwatch, but there is nothing from Samsung confirming that either at this point in time, although the rumor is that South Korean and U.S. markets might see this device hit as early as this July. It sounds like Samsung has quite a bit on their plate for mobile device development, and it will be interesting to see what they have up their sleeves for later in the year.
