The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 looks to be an amazing phone, at least from what we think we know about through various leaks and hypothesizing about upgrades from the Note 3 and the S5 combined. But last night, we had something come out, through the famous leaker @evleaks, which points to something we can be sure of with the Note 4: availability.
Yes, Samsung is known for making many devices per year, most of them for specific American carriers or ‘this-country-only’ like the S5 LTE-A from earlier this week, but Note 4, as per usual, is a phone that the whole world (or at least a large majority of it) will have access to. The leak from @evleaks claims there are 22 variants, each with slightly different model numbers, for various regions of the world. Some of interest, especially to us Americans, are the AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint versions, keeping the single-letter addition onto the same base model number (SM-N910). Also included among the N910 versions are a few N915 models, perhaps for global LTE, as Samsung has a habit of doing (base model N910, LTE-capable model N915) with its Galaxy flagships.
What does this all mean and come to? It means that we will see the Note 4 pop into stores on all main continents (Antarctica not included, because penguins don’t text) and have compatible versions for the world’s top carriers and many of the regions within Europe. It also means that we are nearing the announcement of the smartphone that will be the top of the pile until the next Nexus (or replacement program) device, or the iPhone 6 come out to play in the fall.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4, for reference’s sake, has a powerful list of hypothetical specifications right now. It looks to come in 16 and 32GB models (confirmed by modle number listing), has a QHD (2560 by 1440) display (rumored), improved S-Pen functionality (expected), come out of the box with Kit Kat (likely Android version 4.4.3 or 4.4.4) (expected), have an optical image stabilized 13 (likely more) mp camera (expected upgrade, OIS is rumored), and have two physical different models, one normal flat-paneled and one with a curved display (rumored, rumored, rumored, this one). This phone is going to be amazing regardless, and many people will have access to it, but until the announcement happens, keep your eyes peeled and stay tuned for the latest developments.
