It was less than two weeks ago, that Samsung officially took the wraps off their new Galaxy Tab S tablet line – consisting of an 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch model. They were almost immediately available for pre-order on several Canadian retailers – Best Buy, Future Shop, The Source and Staples. The expected release date was listed as June 27 and today we are happy to announce that you can now purchase a new Galaxy Tab S outright. The 8.4-inch model will set you back $419.99 and the 10.5-inch model will cost you $519.99 – this is $20 more for each model selling price in the U.S.
The new Galaxy Tab S tablets are very similar to the Galaxy Tab Pro series released earlier this year, with one big difference – the Tab S series uses Samsung’s Super AMOLED display rather than the normal LCD display used on tablets in the past. On the Galaxy Tab S series, once you get past the display size, most of the specifications are very similar between the two models. They both use the same resolution displays…2560 x 1600, with 3GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage with a microSD card slot to add up to an additional 64GB of memory. In the Wi-Fi models, an Exynos 5429 processor is used and in the LTE models, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz provides the ‘brains.’ They both have an 8MP main camera and a 2MP front-facing camera for video chatting and selfies. They also have a built-in fingerprint scanner for added security, as well as a Multi-User option and a Kids Mode. The 8.4-inch packs a 4900mAh battery and the 10.5-inch model carries a much larger 7900mAh battery – and you should get great battery life, especially with Samsung’s built-in Ultra Power Saving Mode (UPSM) .
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablet line offers much for the money – a breathtaking display that incorporates Samsung’s adaptive display that automatically adjusts the display based on what you are doing with the tablet – from working with photos to reading a book, the display will give you the best images possible. Multitasking also allows you to run two applications on the main screen at the same time. It is also Samsung’s thinnest tablet at only 6.6mm, making it light to carry and easy to hold.
