Next week, Samsung has an event called “Galaxy Premiere”. We don’t really have confirmation on what Samsung is announcing, but we are pretty sure it’s the Galaxy Tab S, which is that AMOLED display tablet we’ve seen a lot of lately. Which is going to be a 10.5-inch 2560×1600 resolution AMOLED display, along with other top-of-the-line specs like a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, etc. It’ll also have the physical home button, recents and back capacitive keys as well which we’ve all gotten used to on the Galaxy Tablets lately. This one is a big deal because it’ll sport an AMOLED display, which a tablet hasn’t had since the original Galaxy Tab 7-inch all those years ago. The reason why Samsung had gone to LCD instead of sticking with AMOLED is the cost. Tablets were getting cheaper and cheaper, so that if they stuck with AMOLED displays, there’d be no profit margin for them.
Samsung has just posted a teaser for next week’s event. It’s basically a countdown. Thursday, June 12th, in New York City, Samsung is going to take wraps off of the Galaxy Tab S 10.5, but we’ve also heard about the Galaxy Tab S 8.5 as well. And it’s not unlike Samsung to announce multiple tablets at one event. Just take a look at CES where they announced four tablets. The Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4, 10.1 and 12.2 as well as the Galaxy Note PRO 12.2.
You can take a look at the video below to see the teaser, where Samsung tells us to “tab into color”. I’m sure we’ll see plenty more leaks between now and the official unveiling next week. Hopefully these new tablets don’t disappoint, as Samsung has some great tablets out there already. I do think these will be more expensive than what they already have though, based on them having AMOLED displays.
