While Sony is of course driven to produce the best handsets they can, like their most recent attempt with the Xperia Z2, the company has turned on to the idea that not everyone can afford, or even wants the latest and greatest in mobile technology. However, smartphone buyers like to have premium devices, or at least those that feel like premium devices. To that end Sony has been producing quality low-end to mid-range devices like the Xperia SP and the Xperia M2 for a couple of years and now, they’ve just announced another 5.3-inch device, the Xperia T3.
The Xperia T3 is what Sony is calling the slimmest 5.3-inch device, which at 7mm is pretty damn slim. It’s powered by a quad-core 1.4 Ghz CPU and what we’re assuming is 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. Right now, Sony is being a little stingy with specifics, but we do know that the 5.3-inch display is of the 720p variety and the overall build of the device is aluminum, and moves away from the slate design of the Xperia M2 with a more rounded back. There’s a dedicated camera key to operate the 8-megapixel Sony Exmor RS sensor on the back and AR effects as found in other Sony models make the jump to the T3.
The design of this guy should be familiar to anybody that has seen an Xperia Z device in the last couple of years, and it’s nice to see Sony sticking with what they know. The device looks good and has a lot to offer those looking for a budget-minded device and the 2,500 mAh battery should last for a decent length of time, especially considering this is more of an everyday device than a gaming powerhouse. As this latest device from Sony supports 4G LTE, we’re expecting a Snapdragon 400 to be at the heart of the T3, putting it in direct competition with the new Moto G 4G, but something is telling us this wont be as cheap when it hits markets later this year.
