Getting to grips with the controls is nice and easy, and they’re well explained to new players.
Things start off nice and easy, with the trees going by nice and slowly.
However, as you get further into the game, you’ll come across obstacles like branches and animals like the Monkey that throws bananas at you and the snake that jumps out of the branches at you.
At the end of each level, you’re given a high-score. If you like, you can use a continue to carry on.
You come across a lot of different powerups and boosts throughout the game, but you can always buy more.
Opinion: Endless runner games, where you keep on going to get the best score you possibly can, are well-suited for mobile. After all they’re almost take it or leave it gaming, there’s no regiment to follow here. That, and the fun graphics, simple yet challenging gameplay that’s also rewarding, is what makes Squirly a good game for little ones. It’s also got some catchy, if a little basic, gameplay mechanics that older players will find appealing and perhaps even addictive. I found the game a good time, and we’re sure that younger players will enjoy this a lot on their tablets and smartphones.
