Verizon Makes Changes to It's EDGE Early Upgrade Program

Last year, when T-Mobile announced JUMP, which was their early upgrade program, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint weren’t far behind in announcing their own variations of that program. However, Sprint and T-Mobile have made some changes to their programs since they launched. Now Verizon has tweaked their EDGE program a bit. So now you have 20 monthly payments until your phone is paid off, you can also upgrade after you’ve paid of 60% of the phone. So it’s not as quickly as with JUMP, but still less than 2 years. This brings EDGE in line with AT&T’s NEXT program which does 20 months and 60% paid off before you can upgrade as well. While T-Mobile’s old plan (which is what I have) allows you to upgrade twice a year, their new plan allows you to upgrade after you’ve paid off 50% of the device, but you’re also paying $10/month on top of the cost of the phone for JUMP since it’s tied in with your insurance. Which isn’t a bad thing really.

So some nice changes, actually, over at Verizon with EDGE. I still have to wonder though, how many people are actually using EDGE? I don’t hear many people talking about EDGE or even NEXT, as much as I do JUMP and Easy Pay for T-Mobile and Sprint, respectively. But anytime you can upgrade before two years it up is definitely a good thing, especially with how quickly these phones change and how many these manufacturers put out every year. You can find out more information about the changes in the source links below.

How many of you use EDGE, or NEXT, Easy Pay or JUMP on your respective carrier? What do you think about it? How many of you like these changes to Verizon EDGE that they  are implementing beginning today? Be sure to let us know in the comments down below.
