T-mobile subscribers could be looking at a new tablet option in the future if rumors turn out be true. TKTechNews is reporting that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 LTE model is on the way to T-Mobile for a launch as early as this summer which could be anywhere from July to the end of August, to compete against AT&T and their Padfone X coming from ASUS. The pro line of devices from Samsung is a little more on the pricey end so it’ll be interesting to see how T-Mobile prices their variant of it should it actually head their way. We have to take into account that this would be the model with embedded LTE radios as well, which will end up making it cost more than the already expensive WiFi only model.
The video posted below shows off the supposed “developer edition” of the Tab Pro 8.4 which we can presume will end up being the LTE model that T-Mobile is supposed to get down the line in the near future. The video does a nice little walk through of the tablet in its powered on state and we can even at one point see the tablet’s display get powered off and back on again so we can see the carrier logo from the lock screen. It’s mentioned that the particular tablet in the video had been tested with successful results on LTE, HSPA+ and 3G signal while connected to T-mobile which sounds like a good start from the network side of things. With the network seemingly working just fine and having no compatibility issues, the next step for T-mobile might be to test all of their carrier branded applications that we see come on nearly every device.
While there isn’t anything confirmed as of yet we’d expect the specifications and hardware to be the same as what’s in the model that Samsung launched a few months back. What we should be looking at when and if this LTE model drops on T-Mobile’s network is 2GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, Android 4.4 Kit Kat, 16Gb of internal storage, an 8MP rear facing camera, all wrapped up with an 8.4-inch display showing a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels.
