Earlier this week, Samsung announced their first device that’s powered by Tizen. Well their first smartphone, since the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit all run on Tizen. We’ve been wondering exactly how Tizen was going to look and feel on the Samsung Z for a bit, and well we have a video preview now. Thanks to the guys at thehandheldblog for the video, which is at the bottom of the post.
The Samsung Z is similar to most other flagships out there right now, although it does have a slightly different design than the Galaxy line of devices from Samsung. It actually looks a bit more like the Sony Xperia Z2. It features a 4.8-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM, 8MP camera, 2600mAh battery, etc. It’s not quite with this year’s flagships but it’s still a pretty decent device. With it being Tizen, it’s basically a HTML5 operating system, and does look a lot like Touchwiz on the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and all those other devices, but it doesn’t have the Google apps. So if you’re looking for Gmail, Hangouts, or even Google Search, it won’t be on these Tizen devices.
Russia will be getting the Samsung Z pretty soon. Although I don’t expect it to come to the US anytime soon. As the US market is a pretty tough market, I think that Tizen isn’t ready for the US just yet. As this is really their first device. But with Samsung’s marketing power, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them bring it to the US and it sell really well. Check out the video below, and let us know what you think about the Tizen UI on the Samsung Z, in the comments down below. It looks pretty cool, but the lack of Google services will keep me away, at least for a bit.
