Panasonic to Launch Eluga Line in India
Some years ago, Panasonic launched their Eluga line of smartphones in Europe and well, somewhat unsurprisingly for Panasonic they were not a success. In India however, it appears that Panasonic is enjoying some decent success and the Eluga line will be travelling East soon. Panasonic has teased the arrival of “a new generation” but no further details have been released just yet. Hopefully though, we get something pretty decent from Panasonic on the smartphone front, as they’ve released some good mid-range options in India so far, but nothing too special.
HP Chromebox Starts at £215 in the UK
While not a smartphone, nor a tablet, we’re big fans of Chromebooks and Chromeboxes here at Android Headlines. (Don’t tell Microsoft, but I use one all day for work) HP’s Chromebox, just like their 14-inch Chromebook is to come in some pretty outlandish colors and in the UK will start from £215. For that price, you’ll be getting a teeny, tiny box that runs Chrome OS on a 1.4 Ghz Intel Celeron CPU (of the Haswell variety), 4 USB ports, an HDMI port, an SD card reader and either 2GB or 4GB of RAM. For this sort of machine, you want the 4GB model, trust me, which will cost you £234 according to HP’s own website. The Chromebox comes with a wired keyboard and mouse, and for those looking for a compact PC to browse the web with, this is a great option, and a pretty cheap one at that.
Tesco’s Hudl Available for Just £59 Through eBay Outlet
Love the idea of Tesco’s Hudl but not for £119? Well, Tesco is throwing you cheapskates a bone with their refurbished option available for just £59 through their eBay Outlet. Tesco’s Hudl is, somewhat remarkably, a rather untouched stock Android tablet with a nice, colorful 1440 x 900 display that’s powered by a MediaTek quad-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. The model from eBay features 16GB of storage and for £59 well, you could certainly do a lot worse. A great price for a kids tablet or a replacement for that one you dropped in anger during England’s dismal World Cup performance, you’ll need to be quick though, as there might not be too many left.
The Karbonn Titanium S1 Plus is Colorful and Cheap
With a 4-inch 800 x 480 display and a 1.2 Ghz quad-core CPU, the Karbonn Titanium S1 Plus might not be the best device out there, but at RS 5,749 it’s not a bad deal at all. One of the bigger drawbacks of course is that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is running here and there’s no telling if such a device will get an update to KitKat, but it’s a nice and simple device for the Indian market. It’s also available in Orange, Black and White.
Micromax Canvas Gold A300 Launches with 1080p Display and Android 4.4 KitKat
Despite the MediaTek MT6592T clocked at 2.0 Ghz, the Micromax Canvas Gold A300 is running Android 4.4 KitKat, which is a pretty big deal considering a lot of other devices launch with Jelly Bean still these days. With a 5.5-inch 1080p display, this is on the larger side but that also gets you 2GB of RAM and a 2,300 mAh battery. It’s available to order from Micromax’s website for RS 23,999, which might not be cheap but isn’t too bad a price for something like this.
Huawei’s Honor 6 Leaks Out in Pictures
There’s been a lot swirling around the upcoming Huawei Honor 6 and recently some live images of the device leaked out. Following on from the Honor 3 and 3X, it loks like the Chinese manufacturer is keeping the design much the same. Supposedly a 5-inch device with a 1080p display, the Honor 6 could be powered by Huawei’s new Octa-Core Kirin 920 CPU and be powered by Android 4.4 KitKat. An interesting product that we’re sure will hit the scene to much fanfare in China, we’re looking forward to seeing more of the Honor 6.
Celkon Campus A35K Runs KitKat, Costs Just RS 2,999
If you thought phones were getting cheaper once again, the the Celkon Campus A35K is a pretty good example of that. It’s got a 3.5-inch 480 x 320, a 1GHz CPU, 256MB of RAM and 512MB of storage with room for SD cards. These are some pretty poor specs, but for a device that costs just RS 2,999, and runs KitKat? There’s worse out there and at this price it could be a nice little curiosity to play around with.
Archos Launch Oxygen 50b and 50c With 5-inch 720p Displays
Both the Oxygen 50b and 50c feature similar specs with 5-inch 720p displays, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.2.2. Where they differ is that the 50b feature a quad-core 1.3 Ghz CPU and the 50c comes packing an octa-core CPU. With 2,000 mAh batteries powering the show, there’s not much to write home about these devices, but they’re fairly thin with the 50c coming in at just 7.6mm. We can expect these devices to roll out throughout Europe for not much at all.
