Getting to download the latest version of Android on your device is probably the sweetest thing in the world. It’s not because Google names their operating system after a scrumptious treat, but you get the latest bug fixes, UI adjustments and so much more when the search giant releases software. Sometimes getting the latest update can be a pain because instead of fixing previous problems, they add more, but Google has shown how quick they are to fix a little mistake. The latest to receive the Android 4.4.4 update is Verizon’s Moto X and their exclusively customized Moto G. After testing the waters with the update, the newly updated software is being sent out OTA.
Android 4.4.4 isn’t a large update, but the previous update which was 4.4.3 did most of the heavy lifting. Major bug fixes such as the camera draining the battery were some of the many improvements made with Android 4.4.3. Along with 4.4.3 came its own problems but were fixed with 4.4.4. According to Verizon, the updated software includes the ability to pause video recording with a convenient pause/resume button on the viewfinder, a beautifully updated phone dialer with a new graphical layout and colors to improve consistency and usability, and the new Motorola Alert application sends periodic alerts with your location to your selected contacts. The alert feature is available for download in the Google Play Store for those that were wondering. These improvements will come delivered on both the Moto X and Moto G.
As always, if you’re planning to download the latest update, the software will show up in your notification bar when it is ready, however you can always manually check it by going to settings and about phone. If you have not received the notification, then give it a couple of days, as the software is coming OTA. Remember to have your battery on charge or at least to 100% and have good signal strength or connected to wifi. For rooted devices, you may have trouble downloading the software. Check in with the developers who made your root, they will probably have the software available for you to flash on to your device.
