Android Wear Apps Disappear From Play Store

Google Play, is doing what it does best, ‘play’ with our fragile emotions and keeping us guessing and theorizing exactly what happened to the Android Wear Apps that were in the store, but then abruptly removed with no explanation.  Funny thing is though – Google does not owe us an explanation as to why they removed them…but by doing so, curious minds start to wander.  The Apps that were removed were nothing earth shattering – simply basic utilities, such as a stop watch and compass – Apps that are already built into the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live smartwatch. Although, as one of the commenters, Paul, pointed out, his Wear – Stay Awake App is still showing up in the Play Store and it is basically a Timer and Stop Watch App.

Android Wear is such a new platform that there could be legalities involved – the Wear Apps may be too close to an App written for a smartphone, or maybe Google changed some of the rules, last minute, and those removed Apps need a ‘tune-up.’  It would certainly make sense if the Play Store would put all of the Android Wears Apps in their own little ‘sub-store’ within the huge Play Store…much the same way they are doing for Google’s Glass.  Searching for a particular App can sometimes be a daunting task and to try to weed through the many Apps to find just Android Wear applications would be awful laborious.

What is interesting too is that those were not the first Android Wear Apps, so why take these particular ones down and yet leave Paul’s application up in the Play Store – who knows, it may be gone by the time you read this article!  One thing we know for sure is that there will be hundreds, if not thousands of Android Wear Apps available in the very near future as manufacturers begin to release their version of an Android Wear smartwatch.  Applications drive sales and this is one area where Apps will certainly make a difference in deciding if you want to make a purchase.  Android Wear was another great idea from the minds at Google – now if they could just get their Android Wear section setup in the Play Store it should really rock.

Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know what you think about Android Wear and if you will be on of the first in line or online to make a purchase…as always we would love to hear from you.
