Here in the West, we take 4G for granted, especially in the US where 4G LTE networks are getting faster and more widespread everyday. In China – one of the fastest-growing mobile markets right now – 4G LTE is just getting off the ground and devices with 4G built-in are starting to become fairly common. Lenovo is a big name when it comes to smartphones and tablets in China and they’re about to offer something pretty nice to China Unicom customers. The A805e has been unveiled in China during the Tianyi Mobile Phone Trade Exhibition and while it’s not the most powerful or best-looking device Lenovo has ever made it could end up being an important device for the Chinese manufacturer.
For one thing, it supports TD-LTE and for another, it features the latest Snapdragon 410 SoC from Qualcomm. The 410 was announced some time ago as a 64-bit capable chip running on four Cortex-A53 cores, of course running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean means this is running in 32-bit mode but it does leave some hope for a quality upgrade to Android L and hopefully a swift upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat. With a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720 display and 1GB of RAM with 8GB of expandable storage, the A805e has a lot going for it and should be a nice seller for Lenovo over the next few months.
The rear of the A805e features a faux-leather sort of pattern and a ring surrounding that 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. Overall, this isn’t the best that Lenovo has hit the market with, but the new Snapdragon 410 and 4G support shows that Lenovo is very much interested in pushing things forward when it comes to China, one of their strongest markets when it comes to mobile. Hopefully, this device sees and upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat soon after it launches and an update to Android L later on in the year. Would this be something you’d be interested in?
