For what feels like forever now, we have been hearing about a Galaxy S5 Prime, featuring a much denser display and a Snapdragon 805 to deal with all those extra pixels. That device has officially surfaced as the Galaxy S5 LTE-A edition for those lucky South Koreans, complete with a Quad HD Super AMOLED display and a Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM. It’s a good device for sure, but here in the West, we’re waiting to see what the Galaxy F could be – if it indeed turns out to be anything at all. We’ve seen the device leak a few times already and now, what looks like a Press Render has been published by the infamous @evleaks.
An image with a brushed aluminum back with some curves to it and a dotted design on the front panel has appeared and it certainly looks like a Press Render to my eyes. Samsung has used this “pose” or arrangement of devices for previous press material in the past and while these are fairly easy to fake, I don’t suspect @evleaks throwing out bad information, not after such a good track record. The design also matches up with previous leaks we’ve seen of the device’s back panel and those super-slim bezels.
Is this the Galaxy F? Who knows, it could be an elaborate fake or it could a Press Render that Samsung is readying along with other materials for an upcoming launch. It seems fairly unlikely that Samsung would go to all the trouble of creating a 5.1-inch 2560 x 1440 display and use it in just South Korea, no matter how important a market that is for them. The West – specifically the US – is where Samsung makes a lot of their money and with the G3 flaunting some of the best specs out there, we can’t imagine Samsung content to let them the limelight for long.
