It looks like Eric Schmidt will be donating 30 minutes of his time for the winner of the Charitybuzz auction – how much would you pay to sit down with Eric and what would you ask him.? Charitybuzz raises funds for nonprofits via auctioning time with celebrities, business executives and current day luminaries. It’s kind of like “Make-a-Wish,” only you have to be the highest bidder in order to win. Since they started these ‘celebrity-type’ auctions, Charitybuzz has raises over $100 million that they then pass out to worthy charities or grants supporting the arts. This gives the bidders a chance to live out their dreams and at the same time, make a real difference with their donation. Proceeds from coffee with Eric Schmidt will go to the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation – dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth with access and exposure to the arts. Eric is no stranger to giving back to causes near and dear to him – just this past March he spontaneously (or so it seemed) picked ten charities and divided up a million dollars in grants among them.
Eric Schmidt will be joining a line of fascinating people that have already gone through the Charitybuzz auction – In 2013, Tim Cook from Apple brought in $610,000 for his 30 minute meeting and that money went to support the RFK Center for Just and Human Rights. A tour of Sea Candy with Warren Buffett brought in $156,000 that was donated to Communities in Schools of Los Angeles. So far, the highest bid on 30 minutes with Eric is at $8,000 (4 bids), although they estimate (or hope) they will get $50,000. I am not sure why Tim Cook was so fascinating and worth over $600,000 and Eric Schmidt is only worth $50,000 – better yet, why did Warren Buffett only garner $156,000…I would love to walk away friends with him!
There are still 15 days left to get your bid in, as August 14 is the deadline – just go HERE and enter your bid. The winning bid will actually allow two people to attend, so you may want to pool your resources in an effort to win. What would you ask Eric if you were one-on-one – would you talk more about Google, Android, Nexus devices, etc…better have those questions lined up as 30 minutes is not much time. Hit us up on our Google+ Page and tell us your questions…as always, we would love to hear from you.
