HTC One Remix Now Official, Launching July 24th for $99 on Contract

The HTC One Remix has been leaking out for a few months now and Verizon has finally made it official this morning. It’s set to launch tomorrow for just $99 on contract. Which is actually somewhat of a head scratcher. Normally, we’d say it’s a good deal since this is a mid-range device, but right now they are selling the LG G3 for $99 on contract which I think would be a much better deal. Not to mention the HTC One M8 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 are also selling for $99 on contract. It makes us tough to tell everyone to pick up the HTC One Remix from Verizon.

Essentially the HTC One Remix is the HTC One Mini 2 for Verizon. It features a 4.5-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot, 13MP camera on the back – no UltraPixel or Duo camera features here – along with a 5MP front-facing shooter. It’s also running Android 4.4.2 KitKat and has a 2100mAh battery inside.

Other than the price, the HTC One Remix is a pretty decent looking device with decent specs as well. While I’d definitely like to see the price to be a bit lower, especially with all their high-end stuff at the same price, I have a hard time seeing this selling well at launch, at least until the flagships go back to their normal prices. For those interested we’ve got the full press release from Verizon down below.

Sometimes when we see a smartphone with features that we want, but prefer a bigger or smaller size, having choices helps.

The HTC One® (M8) has some pretty big features – metal design, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and dual front speakers. Soon those big features will be on the new compact HTC One remix.

Selfies have become an important part of the mobile lifestyle and everyday life. See a great view? Take a selfie with it in the background. Come across a celebrity or favorite athlete? Take a selfie with them. The HTC One remix is designed to make sure that selfies are clear, sharp and upload-worthy for all to see. The camera app also has a timer countdown so users can smile at the right moment.

The dual speakers with HTC BoomSoundâ„¢ are another front-facing feature on the remix. It’s a different experience having the speakers face the user, especially when watching videos. And when playing music there’s no need to press play and turn the phone over to hear the speakers.

There’s an app for news, an app for Twitter, an app for a calendar … so many different apps to open and use. HTC BlinkFeed on the remix helps reduce app clutter by organizing them on one screen. Users can pick and choose which content they want to see for a customized news feed.

The XLTE Ready HTC One remix will be available online and in Verizon Wireless stores starting July 24 for $99.99 with a new two-year activation. The Verizon Edge program is also available for eligible customers who want to upgrade.
