It might be late for most of us, but our friends from LG over in Korea are up and announcing new phones. LG just announced the LG G3 Beat. Which is a smaller version of the LG G3, obviously. According to LG’s press release “The LG G3 Beat was developed to address the growing low- to mid-tier segment of smartphone customers who want a great device that’s more compact but still powerful enough to run the most popular apps.” Which the mid-range and low-end market has really began to explode in the past year. Which we can thank Motorola for that with the likes of the Moto G and Moto E smartphones.
As far as specs go for the LG G3 Beat, we are looking at a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor 1.2 GHz Quad-Core, 5.0-inch HD IPS (1280 x 720, 294ppi), 8GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot, 1GB RAM, Rear 8MP with Laser Auto Focus / Front 1.3MP 2,540mAh (removable), running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat along with the latest version of LG’s overlay, which is found on the LG G3. As far as dimensions and weight go we’re looking at 137.7 x 69.6 x 10.3mm and 134 g respectively. Connectivity includes, 4G LTE / HSPA+ 21Mbps (3G), Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS/Glonass, NFC, USB 2.0. And will be available in Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold.
LG is launching the LG G3 Beat in South Korea on July 18th (for them that’d be tomorrow since it’s already July 17th over there), and will rollout into Europe and Commonwealth of Independent States in the weeks that follow. No word on it hitting the US or even North America just yet. Although we have already seen this device hit the FCC with AT&T compatible bands so we may see it launch under a different name or even as an unlocked device over here. But that’s not confirmed just yet.
