Just a little while ago, LG announced a slightly higher specced LG G3 for their home country of Korea. Which is not that uncommon as both LG and Samsung have done this in the past. But as most of us know, after using the LG G3 for a few weeks now, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor is quite good for the LG G3, and still allows the device to be snappy and it doesn’t hinder battery life at all. But we all wanted the Snapdragon 805, why? Because it’s slightly faster, and can handle Quad HD displays a big better than the 801 can.
Now that the LG G3 LTE-A Cat. 6 is available, Korean retailer ePrice got their hands on the device and did some benchmarking, and well. It’s not as big of a jump as we all thought it’d be. On AnTuTu it scored 33,991 which is lower than the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and the HTC One M8. It’s also about the same as the LG G3 – the Snapdragon 801 version. Over on Quadrant it scored 24,660 which is only marginally better than the LG G3. Finally on Basemark it scored 58.11, which again, is only marginally better than the LG G3. So we aren’t looking at amazing advantages compared to the LG G3 here, but it did score a bit higher. The real test will be seeing if we get better battery life and real-world performance out of the LG G3 LTE-A Cat. 6 model. As that’s what really matters.
This newer model of the LG G3 with Cat. 6 LTE is available in South Korea already, and is able to be imported into the US and other countries, although it’s going to cost you a bit of cash to do so. So if you really want the Snapdragon 805 processor in your LG G3, you can do it, but remember there will be some disadvantages seeing as it is a Korean model.
